Feeling Outside the Body

Ever "Feel" your "outside" body while dreaming?

Talk about a very WIERD sensation!

Am I Still Dreaming?
When having a lucid dream, it sometimes becomes unclear as to the fact that you are still dreaming. Just as in real life, your subjective mind tends to come forward when things are "normal" and you are mainly doing things withouth really "thinking". You may have to "re-test" to see if you are still in a dream.

One of the ways that I have started to test my awareness is to tell my dream characters to "hold on a second" while I check to see if I can "feel" my outside body. Usually, I close my dream eyes (something that, by the way, can be used to wake up from a lucid dream (more about this in "Overcoming False Awakenings") and keep awareness while "half-waking up" to feel my body, asleep in bed.

This creates sort of a tingling, or buzzing sensation. It's also sometimes hard to break free from (when trying to get back to the lucid dream instead of waking up). Sometimes it creates a false awakening. This is definitely something you'll want to try once you have a little bit of experience holding a lucid dream stable. What always amazes me is when I come back into the dream and tell my dream characters that "yep! I felt my body, this is a still a dream" and they themselves are amazed! It's funny what the human brain can do!
